What activities the Deaf Ministry currently offers?

Traditional beach camps are held for all ages in the summer:

  • A very popular camp is "Survival Week" where campers and counselors communicate only through sign language.

  • Young Adult group meets weekly in the Scripture Union auditorium in Lima for fellowship and discussion.
  • "Friends Clubs" in schools. Parent conferences and recreational activities in schools. Presentation of Bible stories and educational videos.
  • Current information is shared on community service and family orientation centers available to the deaf.
  • Sign language classes are available to young adults, parents, teachers and any others interested in learning. Currently signing is not limited to the deaf community. It useful as an alternative to oral communication for people with poor motor skills, mental retardation, autism and afasia.
