Who is it for and how does it work?
Through caring discipleship, seminars and workshops families are equipped for effective daily Bible reading. A commitment to the local church for effective evangelism is encouraged. We are able to provide materials and learning resources for enhancing a personal relationship with Christ. Scripture Union's Bible ministries are for people of all ages. In Peru, six thousand people each year give testimony to the advantage of having been properly guided and trained.
When did this ministry begin?
The first Bible reading notes published in Peru date back to 1927. Their use grew significantly during the 30s and 40s. In the 50s S.U. took on a staff worker and in the 60s British missionaries associated with Latin Link helped with distribution in the southern provinces. In the early 80s S.U. provided training courses to strengthen leaders in their faith and writing skills. In 1988 devotionals were published in Spanish and Quechua.
How does one get involved?
God has blessed Scripture Union with eager volunteers working in various areas.

Short term goals
- To publish a second volume of Discovery notes for children.
- To hold seminars in smaller, rural towns
- To publish a devotional based on the gospel of John for new believers
- To distribute the New Testament for children
- To publish an annual version of Encounter with God
Long term goal
- To purchase audio visual equipment for producing and editing materials (multimedia proyector, a Pentium 4 and a CD Burner).
- To produce "A guide to conducting seminars" on video and DVD.

2. Whether your team chooses to visit the Amazon jungle of Iquitos, the high Andes Mountains in Kusi, Ica, the driest desert on earth or the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Cusco, please request your dates early. Come for a week or two and let us show you several of our exciting sites!
3. COST: In order to make ends meet, we need 20 member teams in order to offer an all-inclusive daily cost of $35 per person, in addition to a $200 per person per week fee to cover construction costs and contribute towards ministry.
4. DOMESTIC FLIGHTS (Iquitos and Cusco): $350. (*)
5. CONSTRUCTION FEES: $4000 per team of 20 per week.
(*) Air fares vary. When contacting us, please indicate whether you wish the difference from the $350 to be refunded to your church or sending institution by check or whether you agree for it to remain as a donation for our program to Abandoned Boys.
